This is the inaugural edition of the MSS members and news highlights. We hope this will be a resource for you, as well as a way to call attention to the great work our members are doing to advocate for patients and the medical profession.
Standing Committee spotlight
The Committee on Scientific Issues (CSI) hosted the AMA Poster Showcase during the HOD Annual Meeting in June 2023, offering AMA members a distinctive platform to present their research, refine presentation techniques and connect with prominent figures in the medical community. This event not only bolstered participants' reputations but also facilitated opportunities for funding, advocacy involvement and expansive networking experiences at one of the nation's standout medical conferences.
The MSS will be hosting the next AMA Poster Showcase on Nov. 10 from 3-5 p.m. during the 2023 Interim Meeting of the HOD. Medical students, residents, fellows and IMGs are invited to submit an abstract. The deadline to submit is Oct. 6.
Year-long Buddy Program
The Buddy Program is a chance for AMA members to get paired with a mentor or mentee and ask questions, share advice and establish meaningful relationships. The program is open to any senior member, physician, resident, fellow, or new AMA member. Please email [email protected] for the registration form.
2023 MSS Interim Meeting
Join the Medical Student Section on Nov. 9 and 10 in National Harbor, Maryland, for the Interim Meeting. Registration is now open and free for all AMA members. Not only does the meeting include policymaking during Assembly, but also education programs, the AMA Poster Showcase, region meetings, elections for national positions, and much more! For those interested in a leadership position, the chair-elect, student-BOT member, and Convention Committee applications are available.
