RFS standing committees
Standing committees are appointed by the Resident & Fellow Section Governing Council and assist in furthering the mission of the section. The committees seek to increase resident and fellow involvement with the section, promote RFS position statements, and carry out projects specific to their area of expertise. All interested interns, residents and fellows are encouraged to apply.
This is a unique leadership opportunity for both newer and more seasoned members to advance their careers and potentially move into an RFS Governing Council or councilor position. We highly value diversity in training year, specialty, geographic location, and personal background. We strongly encourage those who identify with historically marginalized groups to apply. The time commitment is flexible, typically requiring an additional hour per month on average. No prior committee experience is necessary.

ACGME Board of Directors
The ACGME Board of Directors consists of individuals with a combination of backgrounds and skills necessary to provide board oversight of the operations of the ACGME. The work of the ACGME affects residents, residency programs and sponsoring institutions as well as the health care population of the United States.
The ACGME seeks to populate its board with a resident member who has the necessary backgrounds and skills as well as the perspectives of those affected by the work of the ACGME. The board has made great progress in achieving its broad diversity goals but it feels there are still areas for improvement. The board currently has no member of Latino heritage. Geographically, the western U.S. and rural and underserved urban areas are underrepresented. By specialty, hospital-based physicians and surgeons are underrepresented. The board is committed to continuing to increase its racial and ethnic diversity and to maintaining its current gender parity. The resident board member will serve a two-year term.

AMPAC Board of Directors
AMPAC is the bipartisan political action committee of the American Medical Association, dedicated to finding and supporting candidates for congressional offices who prioritize physicians and patients. As a key component of the AMA's advocacy efforts, AMPAC provides a tangible means for physicians to back candidates beneficial to medicine in Congress. Led by a Board of Directors composed of AMA members, and working in consultation with state medical societies, AMPAC funds candidates solely through membership dues, reflecting the collective support of thousands of contributing physicians. It supports congressional candidates nationwide but does not support presidential or state and local candidates. The resident seat on the AMPAC Board is a two-year term.
