Candida Auris
Candida auris is a serious global health threat that has emerged in recent years. This particular strain of Candida is a type of fungus that can cause serious infections, particularly in individuals with compromised immune systems. C. auris spreads easily in health care facilities. At highest risk for getting C. auris are patients with severe underlying medical conditions that require complex medical care, and patients with invasive medical devices like breathing tubes, feeding tubes or catheters in a vein. C. auris may cause infections in different parts of the body such as in the bloodstream, open wounds and ears. It is often resistant to commonly used antifungal medications.
