Office of International Relations
The American Medical Association Office of International Relations (OIR) provides the AMA with a global perspective and fosters relationships with national medical associations and global health care organizations. Their aim is to build connections with counterpart national medical associations, utilizing the AMA's expertise to create valuable contacts and collaboration opportunities.
Additionally, the OIR collaborates closely with the World Medical Association (WMA) to promote the AMA's objectives and policies on a global scale. The OIR facilitate the AMA's participation in the annual World Health Assembly, organized by the World Health Organization. Our engagement extends to interactions with other countries, where we gain insights into their health care systems and strategies for addressing common challenges, including rural health care, physician shortages, poverty and health care disparities.
