These AMA members were recently appointed by external organizations to leadership positions. These individuals were nominated by the AMA to the respective organizations. Each organization made the final appointment decision from among the candidates it received:
Colleen K. Cagno, MD, Tucson, Arizona, has been appointed to the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Review Committee (ACGME) Review Committee for Family Medicine, effective July 2016. Dr. Cagno has been an AMA member for 2 years.
Gregory R.D. Evans, MD, Tustin, California, has been appointed to the ACGME for Plastic Surgery, effective July 2016. Dr. Evans has been an AMA member for 28 years.
Pierre B. Fayad, MD, Omaha, Nebraska, has been appointed to the ACGME Review Committee for Neurology, effective July 2016. Dr. Fayad has been an AMA member for 21 years.
Howard W. Francis, MD, Baltimore, has been appointed to the ACGME Review Committee for Otolaryngology, effective July 2016. Dr. Francis has been an AMA member for 16 years.
Amit Garg, MD, Manhasset, New York, has been appointed to the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Review Committee ACGME for Dermatology, effective July 2016. Dr. Evans has been an AMA member for 7 years.
Padmaja Kandula, MD, New York, has been appointed to the ACGME Review Committee for Neurology, effective July 2016. Dr. Kandula has been an AMA member for 2 years.
Cheryl W. O’Malley, MD, Tempe, Arizona, has been appointed to the ACGME Review Committee for Internal Medicine, effective July 2016. Dr. O’Malley has been an AMA member for 11 years.
Richard S. Pieters, MD, Duxbury, Massachusetts, has been appointed to the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education Review Board of Directors, effective January 2016. Dr. Pieters has been an AMA member for 35 years.
Liana Puscas, MD, Durham, North Carolina, has been appointed to the ACGME Review Committee for Otolaryngology, effective July 2016. Dr. Puscas has been an AMA member for 23 years.
Ann E. Van Heest, MD, Golden Valley, Minnesota, has been appointed to the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Inc. Board of Directors, effective October 2015. Dr. Van Heest has been an AMA member for 10 years.
Joseph S. Yusin, MD, Los Angeles, has been appointed to the ACGME Allergy and Immunology, effective July 2016. Dr. Yusin has been an AMA member for 3 years.
