WPS Standing Committee―GRROWL

Growing the Representation and Reach of Women Leaders (GRROWL), aims to advance women in leadership positions by addressing barriers and promoting leadership development. 

WPS HOD Handbook Review Committees

WPS House of Delegates (HOD) Handbook Review Committees convene prior to each WPS business meeting to review items of business under consideration by the AMA HOD. Applications will be made available in Fall 2026.

WPS associates

WPS associates are appointed by their state or specialty medical societies to serve as liaisons between WPS and their appointing organizations. This network of women leaders is instrumental in implementing WPS activities at the local level and advancing women in leadership positions. Learn more and apply to be a WPS associate. 

Joan F. Giambalvo Fund for the Advancement of Women

Presented by WPS in conjunction with the AMA Foundation, the Joan F. Giambalvo Fund for the Advancement of Women provides scholarships of up to $10,000 to support research advancing the study of women in the medical profession and strengthening the AMA's ability to identify and address the issues affecting women physicians and medical students. Learn more. Women Physicians Section Inspiration Award

The WPS Inspiration Award provides the opportunity for members to acknowledge and honor physicians who have offered their time, wisdom and support throughout the member's professional career. These individuals may have steered others into a specialty they love, helped them find work/life balance, guided them through a professional society or served as an important role model. Learn more
