This week we launched a new AMA website designed to help carry you through your lifelong journey in medicine, whether you are just starting out in medical school, working your way through residency or continually improving your skills as a practicing physician.
Undertaking a website redesign requires the input of those who will use it most, which in this case are the nation’s physicians. With that concept top of mind, physicians were involved in the design and testing of the new experience of the website at every phase. As a result, now you will be able to more easily find timely and relevant content, trusted tools and resources important in your career journey.
The redesign includes sweeping changes to the AMA website and AMA Wire®, including:
- A streamlined design that reduces clutter so that you can find the information you need with less effort. This includes new navigation and site structure that shifts the experience of the website to provide priority content based on who you are and the current stage of your career. Every page has been written for this purpose.
- The search feature has been significantly improved on the website and AMA Wire. Searching is now more efficient and effective to help you find exactly what you are looking for.
- AMA Wire navigation has been revamped so that you can more easily navigate content based on categories and topics that are of most interest to you. Once you have found a story that fits your interest, a new feature will offer stories that are similar in topic and category.
- The main website and AMA Wire are now integrated in a way that allows you to more quickly move from AMA Wire to related content in the website tools and resources. It was a priority to make sure that, as we bring you the news of your profession, you can rapidly find related materials that enhance your experience.
- AMA Wire and the website are completely mobile-friendly so that you can read the same trusted content on any device. We have also added more efficient tools for sharing important content with your friends, colleagues and family on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
It is our hope that the redesign will create more powerful touchpoints between physicians, physicians-in-training and the AMA. From the advocacy efforts we undertake to improve the health care system and help you transition to the new Quality Payment Program under MACRA to reducing physician burnout and restoring joy to the practice of medicine, we stand with you as both your representative and ally.
At the AMA we’re here to help you every step of the way along your life and career in medicine.
