As the largest medical association in the U.S., the American Medical Association is the physicians’ powerful ally in patient care, working tirelessly to advance efforts that support and empower the nation’s physicians.
Since its founding in 1847, the AMA has promoted the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health, as well as improving the training of tomorrow’s physicians. The AMA does this through a wide range of efforts in policy advocacy, education, research, physician resources and more.
As a primary focus today, the AMA is leading major efforts to address prior authorization, scope of practice, physician burnout, Medicare reform and telehealth, engaging with physicians, health systems, courts and government and developing AMA policy through its House of Delegates.
