. 2 MIN READ

Get a glimpse into the physician of the future and learn to “skate to where the puck is going” with a special continuing medical education (CME) session at the 2014 AMA Annual Meeting, 8 to 9:30 a.m. June 9 at the Hyatt Regency  in Chicago.

AMA leaders will give perspectives on the evolving role of the physician gained through the association’s work in its three focus areas:

  • Professional Satisfaction and Practice Sustainability - Jay Crosson, MD, group vice president of professional satisfaction, care delivery and payment, will address how future practice and payment models will look and how physicians can successfully navigate the health care environment.
  • Accelerating Change in Medical Education - Mark E. Quirk, PhD, vice president of education outcomes, will offer insight into innovative ways physicians of the future will be trained and how new curriculum models will better prepare doctors to care for patients in a changing health care system.
  • Improving Health Outcomes - Karen S. Kmetik, PhD, group vice president of health outcomes, will talk about how physicians will need to address heart disease and type 2 diabetes—two chronic diseases that affect millions of patients—and how pilot programs in communities across the country are improving outcomes around these diseases.

Learn about the training, resources and relationships that will help physicians succeed and their patients thrive into the future and earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.
