Learning Collaborative: Augmented Intelligence (AI) Governance

Webinar (series)
Learning Collaborative: Augmented Intelligence (AI) Governance
Apr 17, 2025
Virtual

The AMA STEPS Forward® Innovation Academy Learning Collaboratives are designed to help implement organizational improvements in important areas of practice. Guided by subject matter experts, participants are encouraged to share, learn, iterate, and improve upon their own efforts in a supportive, communal environment.

The AMA uses the term "augmented intelligence" to emphasize AI's role in assisting and enhancing human intelligence, rather than replacing it. The AI governance learning collaborative will help participants build a framework for the implementation of AI that supports the ethical, equitable, responsible and transparent use of AI in practice.

April-November 2025

  • Equip health care organizations with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively implement an AI governance structure
  • Support participants at various stages of AI adoption
  • Share best practices for governance development and/or integration of AI into existing clinical technology governance structures
  • Critically assess systems to better understand current use of AI, existing governance structures and gaps/challenges that exist
  • Draft an initial AI governance framework tailored to participants’ organizations, including policies, procedures and roles for oversight
  • Consider best practices for implementing the governance framework and what measures need to be in place for future success and monitoring
