2024 Interim Meeting of the HOD: Nov. 4 Speakers' Update

3 MIN READ

The preliminary reference committee reports are now posted on the Interim Meeting webpage. All on-time items of business recommended for consideration at I-24 will have a preliminary recommendation provided in the report based on Online Reference Committee testimony. The comments from the Online Reference Committee will continue to be available for viewing on the Interim Meeting webpage for your reference through the conclusion of the in-person hearings.

The in-person reference committee hearings will begin at 1 p.m. Eastern, or 15 minutes after the conclusion of the Second Opening. The order of the agenda for the in-person hearings will follow the recommendation categories listed below. As is customary, authors will be given the opportunity to speak first and will be asked to comment briefly on the item of business and whether they concur with the reference committee's recommendations. It is not necessary to repeat testimony during the in-person hearing that was provided in the ORCs as comments provided in either forum will receive equal consideration.

Any urgent resolutions adopted by your group after the on-time deadline should be submitted as soon as possible. Resolutions submitted after the Sept. 24 on-time deadline are considered late, with the exception of AMA section resolutions. Late resolutions will be reviewed by the Committee on Rules and Credentials and must be urgent in nature (i.e., cannot wait until the next meeting). Late resolutions require a two-third majority vote by the House to be considered. Visit this page for information on submitting resolutions.

Review the Official Candidate Notification (PDF) for HOD elections at the 2024 Interim Meeting. Please note, two candidates have recently withdrawn their candidacy from the Council on Medical Education.

As per policy G-610.090, candidates may announce their intention to run via submission of candidate cards to the HOD Office which are then subsequently posted on the HOD elections website. Individuals who intend to seek election at the 2025 Annual Meeting, and would like their card projected to the House on the last day of the Interim Meeting, must submit an electronic announcement to the HOD Office ([email protected]) before noon, Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024.
