The American Medical Association is currently soliciting applications to fill vacancies on the American Medical Association Political Action Committee (AMPAC) Board of Directors and the AMA Council on Legislation (COL). These items will be considered at the November 2024 meeting of the Board of Trustees.
AMPAC Board of Directors
Six vacancies; two-year term
At its September 2024 meeting, the AMA Board of Trustees voted to postpone appointments to the AMPAC Board of Directors until the November 2024 meeting until the criteria for selection, expectations, and fundraising responsibilities for the AMPAC Board could be revised. The revisions were approved (PDF) by the board on Oct. 7, 2024. The AMA is inviting additional qualified applicants for six vacancies on the AMPAC Board, which includes the resident and student positions. Members appointed to the AMPAC Board will serve a two-year term and may be eligible to serve a maximum tenure of eight years; eligible residents and student members may serve a maximum tenure of four years.
AMPAC student applications will be vetted through the AMA Medical Student Section, and must be submitted by Friday, Oct. 18, 2024 to [email protected].
AMPAC resident/fellow applications will be vetted through the AMA Resident and Fellow Section and must be submitted by Friday, Oct. 18, 2024 to [email protected].
Council on Legislation
One vacancy; one-year term
Dr. Tracey L. Henry, who served as a member of COL, was selected as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Health Policy Fellow. Dr. Henry has tendered her resignation from the council to pursue this opportunity, which created a vacancy for her unexpired term. Therefore, the AMA is currently seeking applicants to serve the remainder of a one-year term on the COL to begin immediately upon appointment, through June of 2025. Members appointed to the COL may be eligible to serve a maximum of eight terms.
