HOD Delegate Handbook
The 2024 Interim Meeting HOD Delegate Handbook is now posted on the interim meeting webpage. All items of business that were received by the Sept. 24 on-time resolution deadline are included. It is posted as a single large document and grouped in smaller documents collated by reference committee. An abridged handbook containing only the recommendations from reports and the resolve clauses from resolutions is also available in an Excel spreadsheet which can be transferred to a Google sheet or other formats as desired.
As a reminder, due to the new resolution deadline for I-24, there will not be an addendum. Late (received after the Sept. 24 deadline) and AMA section-excepted resolutions will be distributed in the meeting tote at the interim meeting on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024.
Online Reference Committees
The I-24 Online Reference Committees (ORCs) will open Friday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. Central and can also be accessed from the interim meeting webpage once available. The ORCs are open to all AMA members. Users must sign in as an AMA member and click the appropriate box to indicate whether their post reflects a personal opinion or the position of a sponsoring society. All posts should begin with this information in ALL CAPS (posts that are not appropriately identified will be removed):
- Name
- All appropriate roles (e.g., author, HOD delegate or alternate from "X" delegation, section member, council member, etc.)
- For whom you are speaking, if on behalf of a group
Authors are encouraged to post as soon as possible, and all are encouraged to post early so that a robust discussion may ensue.
The ORCs will close Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at 5 p.m. Central. Any posts made after this time will not be considered.
Reaffirmation process
A reaffirmation calendar will no longer be developed. Policy that could be reaffirmed in lieu of submitted resolutions will be a pinned comment from reference committee staff on the affected resolutions on the ORCs. Discussion on these items should focus on both the merit of the item as well as the feasibility of reaffirming the proposed policy. If reaffirmation is recommended by the reference committee, the action will be so stated on the Preliminary Reference Committee Report.
Preliminary reference committee reports
Testimony from the ORCs will inform the development of the preliminary reference committee reports. The preliminary reports will contain recommendations which will be the agenda for the in-person reference committee hearings at I-24. It is imperative that there be vigorous discussion on the ORCs to guide the reference committees in making their recommendations.
Preliminary reference committee reports will be posted by Monday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. Central.
Late resolution submission reminder
Resolutions submitted after the Sept. 24 on-time deadline are considered late, with the exception of AMA section resolutions. Late resolutions will be reviewed by the Committee on Rules and Credentials and must be urgent in nature (i.e., cannot wait until the next meeting). Late resolutions require a two-third majority vote by the HOD to be considered. Information on submitting resolutions can be found on the AMA House of Delegates process for submitting a resolution page. Any urgent resolutions that have been adopted by your group since the on-time deadline should be submitted as soon as possible.
