The AMA Foundation's Leadership Development Institute (LDI) is dedicated to cultivating aspiring physician leaders who are committed to their patients and communities. Through two cohorts, the Healthcare Administration and Management (HAM) cohort, and the Health Policy and Patient Advocacy (HPPA) cohort, the LDI offers medical students, residents and fellows a unique opportunity to gain individualized insight into the skills needed to foster their careers and the future of medicine.
Opportunities
HAM cohort
- Pair with an experienced physician leader to work with throughout the program year.
- Continue to learn from and network with leaders in their fields and organized medicine.
- Through in-person events, monthly webinars, and a year-long mentor program, participants will develop leadership skills to utilize in residency and beyond.
HPPA cohort
- Pair with an experienced physician leader to work with throughout the program year.
- Gain insight into health policy processes in organized medicine, as well as in state and federal government.
- Participants develop leadership skills and competencies to become health policy and patient advocates in their fields and beyond.
- Attend the National Advocacy Conference (NAC) or the Medical Student Advocacy Conference (MAC), in addition to the other in-person events, virtual education sessions and mentorship opportunities.
