Digital Health Adoption: Addressing Key Barriers

For health care innovation, the path to adoption can also expand access to care. As digital health continues to accelerate possibility through advancements in telehealth, AI and beyond, health equity issues can be catalysts for the development of innovative technologies that reduce social inequalities.

To maximize this potential and sustain change, the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) Editorial Panel has made significant progress over the past several years in establishing holistic coding solutions for digital medicine services. The codes used by physicians, health plans, health technology companies, and others to describe care also support innovation today and into the future.

In this session, learn how the AMA is working to ensure equitable structures and opportunities in innovation, what resources can support innovation as an asset and not a burden, and how to participate in the coding process. Join our experts to better understand:

  • Barriers that exist to physician adoption of (and patient access to) innovations
  • How health care innovation can focus on health equity from the beginning stages
  • How the CPT code set is supporting the advancement of health care innovation
  • How the DMPAG translates industry input into action
  • Lori Prestesater, senior vice president, health solutions, AMA
  • Kenyetta Jackson, director, health equity initiatives, AMA
  • Ezekiel Silva III, MD, chair, AMA/Specialty Society RVS Update Committee (RUC); member, AMA Digital Medicine Payment Advisory Group (DMPAG)
