The International Medical Graduates Section (IMGS) celebrated its 28th Annual Meeting with the Congress business meeting featuring Todd Askew, senior vice president, advocacy.

Resolutions

IMGS submitted three resolutions to the Annual Meeting of the AMA House of Delegates (HOD), which includes an urgent resolution, for consideration by the HOD. An additional four resolutions were cosponsored by the IMGS.

  3. IMGS urgent resolution: Urgent Advocacy to Restore J-1 Visa Processing for IMG Physicians

  4. OMSS Resolution: Addressing Targeting and Workplace Restrictions and Barriers to Healthcare Delivery by International Medical Graduate (IMG) Physicians and other Physicians Based upon Migration Status or Country of Origin within Healthcare Systems

Registration is now open for the AMA's Distinguish Yourself IMG Summit in Chicago, taking place Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, from 1-7 p.m. Central. This special in-person and virtual event will feature IMG-specific education sessions on leadership, research, advocacy and preparing for the match as an IMG. Registration includes an evening networking reception and free professional headshots for AMA members. 

The deadline to register for in-person and virtual is July 20 (or once sold-out). Programming is designed for ECFMG-certified IMGs. Space is limited; reserve your seat for $25.
