The AMA Medical Student Section (MSS) held its 2024 Interim Meeting Nov. 7-8 in Orlando, Florida. Over 400 medical students—a record number—registered to participate in the MSS Assembly, where they addressed resolutions, educational programs and the outcome of elections.
MSS resolutions
The MSS Assembly discussed 25 items during the meeting. Topics included innovations in medical education, access to reproductive health care and improvements to MSS governance processes. Additionally, MSS advanced eight items to the AMA House of Delegates.
MSS programs
MSS hosted five educational programs, including the following:
- Comprehensive Training Workshop for IUD Insertion, Nexplanon Placement, and Vasectomy Procedures
- Revolutionizing Healthcare: The Transformative Impact of AI on Medical Practice
- MSS Amazing Race and Ideathon: Building Your Medical Start-Up
- Advocacy through Journalism: An Op-Ed Writing Workshop
- Mind Over Matter: Disentangling Mental Health Stigma for Minoritized Populations
MSS elections
The MSS Governing Council chair-elect for the 2025-2026 term, Kaylee Scarnati, was elected by unanimous acclimation. Additionally, Justin Magrath was elected by unanimous acclimation to serve as the student representative to the Board of Trustees for the 2025-2026 term. Congratulations to both as they begin their leadership in these very important roles!
