The AMA Resident and Fellow Section (RFS) held its 2024 Interim Meeting on Friday, Nov. 8 in Orlando, Florida with more than 80 residents and fellows representing 16 states and 20 specialty societies.
Reports & resolutions
The RFS Assembly considered 13 resolutions prompting robust discussion on important issues affecting trainees such as "Protections for Trainees Experiencing Retaliation in Medical Education," as well as public health topics including mass deportation, addressing gender-based pricing disparities, CHIP coverage of OTC medications, and more.
The section immediately transmitted three resolutions to the House of Delegates for consideration at its November 2024 Meeting. Learn more about these and other policies considered by the AMA House of Delegates.
Elections
The RFS held several elections and an endorsement and would like to congratulate the winning candidates:
- Reilly Bealer, MD, RFS Governing Council, chair-elect
- Pauline Huynh, MD, AMA Board of Trustees, resident member endorsement
- Helene Nepomuceno, MD, AMA Council on Constitution and Bylaws, resident member
- Joey Whelihan, MD, AMA Council on Medical Education, resident member
- Hari Iyer, MD, AMA Council on Medical Service, resident member
The RFS also elected 41 sectional delegates and 26 alternate sectional delegates. Information about the newly elected members will be posted to the sectional delegate/alternate delegate page when available.
Leadership opportunities
The RFS will open applications for several leadership opportunities in 2025, including for RFS standing committees, GC positions, and resident seats on AMA councils.
