2024 WPS Interim Meeting highlights

The AMA Women Physicians Section (WPS) held its 2024 Interim Business meeting on Friday, Nov. 8.

The AMA is your powerful ally, focused on addressing the issues important to you, so you can focus on what matters most—patients. We will meet this challenge together.

During this session, the WPS reviewed several items of business before the House of Delegates. They included various resolutions authored by the section:

  • Resolution 001: Addressing Gender-Based Pricing Disparities
  • Resolution 002: Anti-Doxxing Privacy Protection
  • Resolution 206: Protecting Infant and Young Child Feeding
  • Resolution 207: Accountability for G-605.009: Requesting a Task Force to Preserve the Patient-Physician Relationship Task Force Update and Guidance
  • Resolution 805: Coverage for Care for Sexual Assault Survivors
  • Resolution 902: Advancing Menopause Research and Care
  • Resolution 903: Improving the Identification of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) in People with Disabilities
  • Resolution 904: Regulation of Ionized Radiation Exposure for Healthcare Workers
  • Resolution 905: Regulation and Transparency of Contaminants in Menstrual Hygiene Products 

The WPS and the Senior Physicians Section (SPS) collaborated on a joint education program, “The Connection Between Menopause, Cardiovascular Disease, and Health Disparities” with Dr. Helana C Pietragallo and Dr. Annabelle S. Volgman. 

During the WPS business meeting, Anna Yakovenko, AMA vice president of research and insights, presented the results from the 2024 AMA Women Physicians Study. Lastly, the WPS GRROWL Committee updated members on their leadership development initiatives, gained feedback for a Buddy Program, and discussed other engagement opportunities.
