A note from the WPS chair
November-December 2024
From WPS Chair Elisa Choi, MD
Hello to all our WPS members! This November 2024, we gained an hour of sleep (“falling back” from daylight savings time), we lost an hour (or more) of daylight, and many of us attended the AMA 2024 Interim Meeting in the “most magical place on Earth” in Orlando, Florida, at the Dolphin & Swan Walt Disney Resort hotel.
Our WPS had a productive 2024 Interim Meeting.
2024 Interim Meeting
We co-sponsored a CME education event with SPS, “The Connection Between Menopause, Cardiovascular Disease and Health Disparities,” with speakers Helana Pietragallo, MD, and Annabelle Volgman, MD; facilitator Virginia Hall, MD, SPS delegate; and yours truly as moderator.
We sponsored nine resolutions and provided testimony on many others (thank you to the AMAzing WPS Policymaking Committee and Handbook Review Committee members).
Our WPS associates met, and our WPS standing committee GRROWL (Growing the Reach and Representation of Women Leaders) Chair Deborah Fuller and Vice Chair Nicole Henry-Dindial, MD, provided updates.

Importantly, this meeting truly was a “magical” opportunity to enact my priorities for our section, the 3 Cs (collaborations, connections and community). WPS members dined together, enjoyed recreational activities and even sang karaoke (!), all while working hard to create new AMA policies leading up to the AMA 2024 Interim House of Delegates business meeting. The WPS “karaoke caucus” was very vocal! The whole I-24 experience was an exceptional community-building occasion.
Thank you
I want to thank our WPS Governing Council members for all their ongoing contributions to our section. The I-24 WPS Governing Council meeting was the first time we all met in person!
Thank you to all WPS members for what you do every day, for your patients, for our profession, for women in medicine and for #OurAMA!
Special thanks to our Board of Trustees liaisons Sandra Fryhofer, MD, and Pratistha Koirala, MD, and lastly but most importantly, thank you to our WPS staff, Harley Grant and Chloe Hartmann, for everything you do for #OurAMA WPS!
