Young physicians from across the country addressed priority issues and worked on shaping American Medical Association policy during the 2024 Young Physicians Section (YPS) Interim Assembly Meeting.
Resolutions
The YPS had no items of business to be considered at the 2024 House of Delegates Interim Meeting. YPS authored Resolution 603: “Study of Grading Systems in AMA Board reports” was recommended not for consideration.
During the YPS Assembly meeting, topics such as medication coverage, the HOD endorsement process, and Medicare payment reform were addressed. There was also a listening session for the 2027 endorsement process.
Education session
In addition, the YPS hosted an educational program titled, “Navigating the Election’s Impact on Health Care Policy and Advocacy.” Margaret Garikes, AMA vice president of federal affairs, provided young physicians the opportunity to have an open discussion on how the AMA will advocate for health policy priorities under a new administration.
