YPS Governing Council endorsement & nomination criteria

The Young Physicians Section (YPS) endorses candidates for AMA House of Delegates (HOD) elections. For elections occurring during the 2025 and 2026 AMA Annual Meeting, the YPS has opted to hold virtual interviews by way of requesting written materials from candidates.

The YPS process for endorsing elected and appointed AMA officials is detailed in the sponsor and endorsement rules section (PDF) of the YPS Internal Operating Procedures. The deadline for appointed positions is Jan. 31, 2025.

The deadline for endorsement requests for elected positions is April 21, which marks seven days after the Board's official announcement of candidates. 

Candidates need to submit to yps@ama-assn.org a letter requesting YPS endorsement, their CV, a letter from their sponsoring organization and a questionnaire (DOCX). Candidates have the option to submit a high-resolution photo.

The YPS process for endorsing elected and appointed AMA officials is detailed on the HOD webpage. Applications for endorsement are due Jan. 15, 2025 at noon Central. Applicants may request information about the endorsement process by Jan. 13, 2025 at noon Central.
