It is an honor to present Rep. Neal Dunn with the AMA Award for Outstanding Government Service.”

“I am honored to be recognized for advancing the interests of our nation’s providers and their practices,” said Congressman Dunn. “I can tell you from experience that operating a private practice comes with many challenges, and I have made it my mission to ensure that Washington keeps pace with the ever-shifting needs of our physicians and the patients they serve. I remain committed to improving our healthcare system to benefit patients and providers alike and look forward to continuing that work as vice chair of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health.”

Congressman Dunn was a surgeon in Panama City, Fla., for more than 25 years, and he served in the U.S. Army for over 10 years before that. Dr. Dunn was the founding president of a large surgical practice and has a subspecialty interest in advanced prostate cancer.

The committee is responsible for energy policy, interstate and foreign commerce, telecommunications, consumer protection, food and drug safety, public health and research, and environmental quality among others. Dr. Dunn is the vice chair of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health.

He earned his B.S. from Washington and Lee University and his M.D. from the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences.
