CHICAGO — Today, the American Medical Association (AMA), the nation's largest and most influential physician organization, announced the election of Bruce A. Scott, M.D., a Louisville, Kentucky otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat physician and surgeon), as the vice speaker to the AMA’s House of Delegates.
“It’s an honor to be elected to the AMA House of Delegates where I plan to serve as an essential voice on behalf of our nation’s physicians and patients,” said Dr. Scott.
With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Scott currently serves as president of an independent otolaryngology group and medical director of an ambulatory surgery center in his hometown.
An experienced leader within the AMA, Dr. Scott has served as president of the AMA Resident and Fellow Section, the young physician member of the AMA Board of Trustees, vice chair of the AMA Advisory Committee on Membership and president of the AMA Foundation.
He currently serves as speaker for the Kentucky Medical Association and as chair of the board of the Greater Louisville Medical Society.
Dr. Scott received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston where he also completed his residency and fellowship training.
Married to his college sweetheart for 30 years, Dr. Scott is the proud father of three young adults.
