A chief wellness officer (CWO) is responsible for developing a strategy that encompasses education, advocacy and leadership, guiding an organization toward improved well-being.

The CWO is not responsible for the burnout scores of the organization, and many factors that are crucial to well-being (i.e., compensation, productivity expectations and staffing levels) are not under a CWO’s control.
