After months of research, applications, interviews, signaling and ranking, applicants are matched into residency programs according to the preferences of both the applicants and the programs.
What is SOAP in residency matching?
For students who do not match through the regular Match process, the NRMP offers SOAP®, the post-Match Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program®. Students can submit additional ERAS applications to programs with unfilled positions with the goal of obtaining a residency position. SOAP begins the Monday of Match Week.
What is a rank order list?
After registering for the Match® and completing interviews, applicants submit a list of programs to the NRMP, ranked in order of preference and where they wish to train before the last week of February deadline.
What is Match Week?
Match Week for the NRMP Main Residency Match® takes place the third week in March. It is the period of time beginning at 10 a.m. ET on Monday and ending at noon ET on Friday, Match Day, when applicants and programs learn the results of the Match.
When is Match Day?
