To ensure training programs meet specialty-specific quality standards, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredits residency and fellowship programs based on a set of common program requirements, specialty-specific program requirements and institutional requirements.

A member of Intealth, an integrated organization that also includes the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER®). ECFMG® assesses the readiness and credentials of international medical school students and graduates (IMGs) to enter graduate medical education in the United States.
